Educational Objectives:
 

  • List several skills that will assist their patients to cope with unexpected and unanticipated feelings– by discovering their inner resources.
  • Discuss ways they and their patients pay close attention to self-dialogue in efforts to prevent anticipatory anxieties and fears

Show how gaining increased insight into the value for patients to re-visit past traumas and not to get stuck in them. The presentation will be insight-oriented with a cognitive adjunct.

Dr. Eger will address how mental health professionals can competently guide their patients who have experienced trauma - through a process which involves development of their inner resources, to help them move beyond the pain of the past. She will emphasize ways to devlop resiliency with the goal of helping these patients heal from trauma.

Dr. Edith Eger is a Clinical Psychologist, currently practicing in La Jolla, CA. She is the author of "The Choice: Embracing the Possible", and one of the last survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
