This program will examine and promote evidence-based practices for the integration of behavioral health care service competencies into primary care settings across the lifespan. Model national and local programs fostering collaborative care by primary care and behavioral health providers will be described. Strategies to optimize behavioral health care connections and capacities within the primary health care setting will be explored. The program will discuss a number of innovative San Diego based efforts that integrate behavioral health. Special focus will be paid to clinical rationale and outcomes of behavioral integrated model of care.

This program is designed for primary care practitioners, psychiatrists, behavioral health providers, administrators, advocates and others seeking to enhance behavioral health capacity at primary health care settings in their community work settings. The program will also specifically invite medical students, residents and fellows to introduce them to these concepts to adequately prepare them for their future careers.
