Abigail “Abi” Weissman, Psy.D. (they/them/theirs & she/her/hers) is the founder and clinical psychologist of Waves, A Psychological Corporation that centers queer and trans - mental health care . . . but you might also call them an empowering supporter and a self-love affirmer.
They help people who wish they could be their full queer, transgender, religious, liberal, polyamorous, and/or kink selves but hold themselves back because they are scared they will be unloved, unemployed, and rejected by their loved ones and communities.
They encourage them to share their deepest wishes so that they can learn to be happy being themselves. They knows from her own path to wellness and years of working with LGBTQIQA clients that it is possible to survive the fear of others’ judgment, hurt, and disappointment to live your true self.
They provide trauma-informed talk therapy, EMDR, and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy for clients.
In addition to providing individual, group, and relationship counseling psychotherapy in Bankers Hill, San Diego and online, they are the employer of the fantastic Dr. Camilla Williams, a clinical psychologist.
Dr. Weissman also provides training and consultation to individuals and organizations.
She is a former Member at Large, Board of Directors of SDPA and a former Chair of LGBT Committee, SDPA.
