Events committee members will assist SDPA committees in the planning and execution of the organization’s various events. In addition to assisting with events planned by other committees, the events committee is responsible for working with the president to host the summer social, the fall conference, and the winter gala. The events committee organizes volunteer efforts that assist in selecting dates, venues, catering options, and sponsors for SDPA activities. Events committee members contribute to marketing, budgeting, poster session organization, awards, and entertainment aspects of SDPA’s events.
The Committee meets from 8-9am on the first Thursday of March, April, May, June, July, September, October, & November on zoom

The purpose of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Committee is to educate the SDPA membership, mental health professionals, and the San Diego public about LGBTQ+ issues. The Committee continues to increase awareness, and provide counseling and support to the San Diego community. They serve as a liaison between SDPA and the LGBTQ+ communities, providing updates and discussions of the issues involved in the treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals. The Committee is a resource for those practitioners who work with LGBTQ+ clients and HIV-infected individuals.
The Committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM on Zoom.

Current beliefs about the causes and preferred treatment of problems stemming from addiction continues to range widely. It is critical for all psychologists to be prepared to discuss effective treatment options when clients or their loved ones present with these concerns.
We invite you to join us at Marina Village on June 28, 2025 to learn more about the practice of addiction psychology so together we can find steady footing in psychological science. This year’s conference includes presentations on Harm Reduction, Teens & Screens, sports betting, and current challenges faced by providers treating the LGBTQ+ community.

NOTE: This one-day conference is designed to meet the educational needs of clinical psychologists. Participants can earn up to 6.5 CE credits for their attendance. It is our belief that this conference will be of interest to other types of mental health professionals as well, however, those practitioners need to check with their own licensing agencies re specific educational requirements. Cancellation Policy: No refund will be given to any registered individual who is a no-show to a course. Any individual canceling within 72 hours of a course will be refunded 50% of the course fee.

CE Grievance ProcedureSDPA is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the APAs Ethical Principles of Psychologists. SDPA will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. See CE Grievance Procedure. Attendance Policy: CE Credit and Certificates will not be issued to those who arrive later than 10 minutes or leave early from any course scheduled time. This policy is strictly enforced to ensure compliance with APA Guidelines.
American Psychological AssociationThe San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. SDPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
LCSW, LFMT, LEP & LPCC In California, APA approved CE’s are valid for licensed psychologists, licensed school psychologists, LCSW, LMFT, LEP & LPCC licensees. Though APA is a national organization, the out of state licensee should check with their state governing board to make sure that APA approved CE's are valid in their state for their license.
