Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Opal Psychological, a boutique practice in the heart of La Jolla, is hiring Licensed Clinical Psychologists as 1099 independent contractors. We believe mental health care should honor the whole person — mind, body, and culture — and we built this practice so clinicians can focus on clinical work while we handle the rest.
Work Location: In Person and telehealth
Rate of Pay: 60% fee-split in your favor, with per-session pay ranging from approximately $75–$150 depending on payer mix. Potential to earn $90,000 - $150,000.

What We're Looking For:
- Active California Psychologist license (or license-eligible within a short timeframe)
- Experience with CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness-based interventions, CPT, CBT-I, or other empirically supported modalities
- A commitment to inclusive, identity-affirming, culturally responsive care
- Comfort with EHR systems, telehealth platforms, Google Workspace, and practice management software
- Someone who values teamwork, consultation, and a positive, supportive culture
We work exclusively with adult clients, but you choose your own specialty and population focus — whether that's anxiety and burnout, trauma, couples, health psychology, or something else entirely.

Job Responsibilities:
Licensed psychologists join the practice as independent contractors, allowing flexibility in scheduling and the opportunity to develop a thriving private practice within a collaborative professional environment. Clinicians work in a hybrid model providing both in office and telehealth services, utilizing our Encinitas or Carmel Valley offices. We maintain a strong referral network and assist clinicians in developing a consistent and sustainable caseload. Clinicians are encouraged to develop unique areas of specialization and build practices that reflect their individual clinical interests and expertise.
Qualifications:
We welcome licensed psychologists who bring depth of clinical experience and a collaborative spirit.
Experience in any of the following areas is especially valued:
- Children and adolescents
- Couples therapy
- Group therapy
- Geriatric populations
- Trauma-informed psychotherapy
- Evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, or integrative approaches
Job Requirements:
• Active California psychology license in good standing (Ph.D. or Psy.D.)
• Experience providing psychotherapy to diverse populations
• Ability to provide both in-person and telehealth services
• Strong knowledge of ethical and legal standards of practice
• Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment while maintaining high standards of documentation and care
• Collegial and collaborative approach to professional relationships
About the Practice:
The Halliday Center for Psychotherapy and Wellness is a clinician-owned and directed group practice with offices in Encinitas and Carmel Valley, California. Our team provides evidence-based psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and older adults. We are a collegial community of clinicians who value ethical practice, thoughtful consultation, and ongoing professional growth. Many members of our team bring specialized expertise and enjoy collaborating around complex clinical work. The Center offers services in English, French, Spanish, and Farsi and prioritizes access to care for diverse and historically underserved communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, women, veterans, and active-duty military members.
