SCIENCE FAIR AWARDS CEREMONY
On Saturday, April 14th 2018. the San Diego Psychological Association’s Science Fair Committee held its annual Award Ceremony. Seventh grade through senior class winners of the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair, their families, friends and teachers, along with SDPA members and judges – approximately 60 people were in attendance. First, 2nd, 3rd place and honorable mention winners presented their projects, answered audience questions, and were given pins, certificates and letters of appreciation from the San Diego Psychological Association for worthy Science Fair projects. In addition, 1st place winners were also given a $100 stipend towards their future education. One exceptional project was also awarded an APA scholarship of a $100 savings bond for outstanding application of the scientific method in a high school science project. After the presentations, SDPA furnished lunch and the winners, proud families, friends, judges and SDPA members enjoyed mingling and talking.

Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair Katherine Quinn, Ph.D. and Darlene Townes, Psy.D. SDPA Judges    Andrea Karp, Psy.D. SDPA Judge The Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair was held on March 14th, at Balboa Park Activity Center. SDPA members judged the behavior science projects. According to Richard Schere, Ph.D. Chair of the Science Fair Committee, participation by SDPA members in the judging was the highest he has seen yet. Students participating will be honored at an SDPA event on April 14th. |

In March each year, the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair (GSDSEF) is held in Balboa Park. The event provides an opportunity for high school students to present projects on a variety of scientific topics. SDPA's Science Fair Committee organizes the judging of psychology and behavioral science projects at the Fair and presents SDPA Honors to deserving students. The Committee encourages all participants and presents certificates and cash prizes at an annual SDPA Science Fair Honors event held each April at the SDPA office. This event is attended by students, parents, teachers, psychologist members, and special guests.
Richard Schere and Karen Fox are the Co-Chairs of this Committee and have performed this function for many years. The GSDSEF will be held this year from 3/13/18 - 3/18/18. The Committee is looking for SDPA members, particularly those with research experience, to serve as judges for the awarding of 2018 SDPA Honors to this year's talented students.
