FELLOWS AWARD - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS!

Each year the SDPA membership is asked to submit names to the Fellows Committee for new Fellows.  If approved by the Fellows Committee, nominees are then submitted to the SDPA Board for final approval.

To begin the nominating process, please submit names of prospective Fellows with a description of your reasons for making each nomination by July 15, 2018.

Please note that nominating someone as a Fellow requires you to submit supporting documentation of that individual’s accomplishments and qualifications. If you need help with information on your nominee, the SDPA office may have a CV on file. 

The By-Laws of SDPA specify the following requirements for Fellows: 

SECTION B. FELLOWS 

The Fellow category is the highest category of membership in the Association. Fellows are practicing or retired licensed psychologists. A Fellow of the Association is a psychologist who can serve as a model to others. To meet the criteria of Fellow, a psychologist must excel in one of the following areas or a combination of those areas. A psychologist can demonstrate exceptional service to a community. This could include service on Boards, developing community programs, helping shape policy, or being influential in some recognizable way. A psychologist can meet the criteria of Fellow by making a significant contribution to the profession of psychology. This could include outstanding performance in teaching, research, or writing. Lastly, a psychologist could meet the criteria of Fellow by making a contribution to the local, state or national Psychological Associations. This could include filling leadership positions, creating programs, or being influential in some recognizable way. 

Minimum Standards 

  • Licensed as a psychologist in California
  • Has been a member of the San Diego Psychological Association for a period of five years
  • Clear evidence for meeting the criteria of Fellow must be provided by nominating Fellows
