The San Diego Psychological Association

New applicants must submit the required supporting documentation for the category of membership in which they are applying.  This documentation can be e-mailed to the SDPA office at sdpsychassociation@gmail.com, faxed to 858.277.1402 or sent in the US mail to the SDPA office at 4699 Murphy Canyon Road, Suite 105, San Diego, CA 92123. 

Once your application and supporting documetation has been received, it will be submitted to the Board of Directors.  The Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month.  Upon approval, you will be notified via e-mail and a Welcome Package will follow shortly.

Full Member
    

Full members shall hold a doctorate degree in psychology or an equivalent degree and be licensed as a psychologist by the Board of Psychology of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. .

Full Member, Not in Private Practice
    

Full Member- Not in Private Practice, shall hold a doctorate degree in psychology or an equivalent degree, are licensed as a psychologist by the Board of Psychology of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, and are not engaged in the private practice of psychology i.e., receive no income directly from clients in a private practice setting including group practice settings.

Full Member, 1 - 12 Months Licensed
    
Full members shall hold a doctorate degree in psychology or an equivalent degree and have been licensed as a psychologist by the Board of Psychology of the California Department of Consumer Affairs for less than 12 months.
Full Member, 13 - 24 Months Licensed
    

Full members shall hold a doctorate degree in psychology or an equivalent degree and have been licensed as a psychologist by the Board of Psychology of the California Department of Consumer Affairs for 13-24 months.

Full Member, Out of County
    
Full members shall hold a doctorate degree in psychology or an equivalent degree and be licensed as a psychologist by the Board of Psychology of the California Department of Consumer Affairs and both work and reside out of San Diego county.
Associate Member
    
Associate members shall hold a doctoral degree in psychology or an equivalent degree (as per the California licensing law) but are not yet licensed to practice psychology in California, or they are licensed in another state. 
Student Member
    
Student members shall be enrolled as a graduate student in a doctoral program in the field of psychology. 
Retired
    

Retired members are licensed psychologists who are 70 years of age and over AND are fully retired and no longer working in the field of psychology OR can no longer work due to disability.  Members who are not yet 70 years old but have fully retired and have been a Full Member of SDPA continuously for at least 15 years also qualify to be a Retired Member.  Retired members shall have all the rights and privileges of SDPA membership as stated in the Policies and Procedures Manual including the rights to vote, chair a committee, and sit on the Board.

 

Allied Professional (Individual)
    

These members are licensed professionals other than licensed psychologists, such as M.D., J.D., L.C.S.W., R.N., or M.F.T. who do not meet the criteria for Associate membership.

Allied Professional (Organization)
    

These members are Associations and Organizations in the mental health field. 

Allied Professional (Student / Unlicensed)
    
These members are graduate students in a mental health field other than a psychology doctoral program and those who have graduated from this type of program but who are not yet licensed. 
Affiliate
    

Anyone from the Community who is 18 years or older, has an interest in Psychology, and who is not eligible for membership under any other category.
